Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google…/repository.xml

I was getting this error – “Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google.com/andr­oid/repository/repository.xml” – installing the Android SDK on a Windows Vista box.  Quick fix was to tell the Installer to “Force HTTP” In the Android SDK and AVD Manager, go to Settings and check the checkbox “Force https:// … sources to be fetched using http://…“
